Wessel Nijman Beats Rob Cross 8-3 To Win Slovak Darts Open

Wessel Nijman beat Rob Cross 8-3 to win the inaugural Slovak Darts Open in Bratislava on Sunday night. The Dutchman completed a ruthless finish to finals day at Incheba Expo, taking the first PDC European Tour title staged in Slovakia.

The final closed a sharp run through the draw for Nijman, who beat Stephen Bunting 6-1 in round three, Mike De Decker 6-3 in the quarter-finals and Ross Smith 7-6 in the semi-finals. Cross had moved past Nathan Aspinall 6-2 and Tom Sykes 7-2 before the title match, but the contest tilted decisively Nijman’s way, with Sky Sports’ Slovak Darts Open results listing the 8-3 final score.

Nijman Turns Final-Day Momentum Into Bratislava Title

The result gives Nijman another serious marker in a 2026 campaign that has already pushed him higher in the PDC conversation. It was not just the trophy, but the shape of the evening that mattered: a deciding-leg semi-final against Smith followed by a controlled, one-sided final against a former world champion.

It also completes the thread started when Cross and Nijman’s Slovak Darts Open final was set up earlier on Sunday.

For Cross, the Bratislava run still underlined strong form across a demanding European Tour draw. For Nijman, though, this was the cleaner final statement: a title, a ranking boost and another reminder that his ceiling is still rising.
