Ross Smith has beaten Andrew Gilding 6-4 to reach the Slovak Darts Open semi-finals in Bratislava. The Englishman ended Gilding’s run in the quarter-finals on Sunday night, setting up the next stage of the inaugural European Tour event at the Incheba Expo.
Gilding had already produced one of finals day’s biggest results by knocking Michael van Gerwen out in the last 16, but Smith backed up his own 6-4 win over Chris Dobey by stopping the former UK Open champion at the same scoreline.
Smith Keeps Bratislava Title Push Alive
The result matters because the Slovak Darts Open is the ninth European Tour event of the season and the first PDC European Tour stop staged in Slovakia. Smith’s victory also moves him within two matches of the £35,000 title, with ranking money counting towards the PDC Order of Merit, ProTour Order of Merit and European Tour Order of Merit.
According to the official PDC Europe Slovak Darts Open results page, Rob Cross and Tom Sykes also won their quarter-finals earlier in the evening, while Mike De Decker and Wessel Nijman were listed to complete the final last-eight tie.
For Smith, it is a sharp response to a demanding finals day and another sign that his 2026 form is translating into the pressure end of European Tour weekends.
