Rob Cross has beaten Kevin Doets 6-5 in the last 16 of the Slovak Darts Open in Bratislava. The former world champion came through a deciding-leg contest on Sunday afternoon to keep his European Tour run alive and move into the quarter-finals.
The result was confirmed on the official PDC Europe event page, which listed Cross as a 6-5 winner over Doets in the round-three schedule. It was one of several tight afternoon-session matches as the tournament moved towards Sunday evening’s quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Cross keeps his Bratislava run alive
Cross had already removed top seed Gian van Veen 6-3 in round two, so this was another important step in a section of the draw that opened up quickly. Doets still pushed him all the way, averaging slightly higher in the match, but Cross found the final leg that mattered.
According to PDC Europe’s Slovak Darts Open results, Cross now advances from the Rob Cross v Kevin Doets tie in the Sunday afternoon session. The evening session will decide the title, with the quarter-finals followed by the semi-finals and final.
For Cross, the value is obvious. With Michael van Gerwen also out after a 6-4 defeat to Andrew Gilding, the Bratislava draw has become increasingly volatile. Cross has survived that chaos so far, and a 6-5 win gives him another chance to turn a dangerous weekend into a title push.
