Jermaine Wattimena beat Danny Noppert 6-5 in the last 16 of the Slovak Darts Open on Sunday, June 21, keeping his Bratislava title bid alive after a deciding-leg finish at Incheba Expo.
The official PDC Europe schedule listed the all-Dutch tie as one of the afternoon-session round-of-16 matches, with Wattimena edging Noppert 6-5 as the tournament moved toward Sunday evening’s quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, according to the latest Slovak Darts Open results from PDC Europe.
The result gives Wattimena another sharp European Tour marker after he had already beaten Dave Chisnall 6-3 in Saturday’s second round. Noppert had reached this stage by defeating Madars Razma 6-2, but he could not convert that momentum into a place in the evening session.
Wattimena Keeps Dutch Interest Alive In Bratislava
For Wattimena, this is a significant survival act on the first PDC European Tour visit to Slovakia. The event carries a £230,000 prize fund, with £35,000 available to the champion, and the weekend also feeds into the ProTour, European Tour and PDC Order of Merit races.
With Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall, Tom Sykes and Jermaine Wattimena already through from the early last-16 results, the shape of the final session is tightening quickly. Wattimena’s narrow win over Noppert means he remains in the conversation for a landmark Bratislava title while several seeded names are still fighting to join him.
