Ross Smith Beats Chris Dobey In Slovak Darts Open Last-16 Clash

Ross Smith beat Chris Dobey 6-4 at the Slovak Darts Open on Sunday afternoon, moving into the quarter-finals in Bratislava.

The result was confirmed in the tournament’s final-day schedule, with Smith listed as a 6-4 winner over Dobey in the round of 16. The match came during a busy Sunday session at Incheba Expo, where the first Slovak Darts Open moved from its afternoon last-16 programme toward the evening quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

Smith’s win matters because Dobey arrived as one of the seeded names still standing after a weekend already marked by high-profile exits. Michael van Gerwen had earlier fallen 6-4 to Andrew Gilding, while top seed Gian van Veen had gone out to Rob Cross on Saturday.

Smith keeps his Bratislava title push alive

For Smith, this was a clean, timely step through a narrowing draw. The official PDC Europe Slovak Darts Open schedule also shows the tournament carrying a £35,000 winner’s prize, with the remaining players returning on Sunday night to decide the champion.

The immediate focus now shifts to Smith’s quarter-final assignment and whether he can turn a solid last-16 win into a deeper European Tour run. With several headline names already gone, his 6-4 victory over Dobey gives him a real opening in Bratislava and a sharper route toward silverware.
