Fallon Sherrock Drawn Against Deta Hedman In Women’s World Matchplay Return

Fallon Sherrock has been drawn against Deta Hedman in the 2026 Betfred Women’s World Matchplay, giving the 2022 champion a heavyweight Blackpool opener on July 26.

The confirmed field puts Sherrock third on the qualification list behind Beau Greaves and defending champion Lisa Ashton, with the Milton Keynes thrower returning to the Winter Gardens as the only player to feature in every edition of the event.

Sherrock’s draw is especially sharp because Hedman arrives as a debutant in the tournament, but not as a newcomer to pressure. The 66-year-old qualified after capturing her second Women’s Series title last month, setting up one of the most recognisable quarter-finals in the bracket.

Sherrock Faces A Familiar Blackpool Test

The wider race also underlines the strength of the women’s field. Greaves will face Kirsi Viinikainen, Ashton opens her title defence against Rhian O’Sullivan, and Gemma Hayter meets Vicky Pruim.

According to Sky Sports’ field report, the winner will also earn places at the Grand Slam of Darts and the 2026/27 World Darts Championship.

For Sherrock, the route is immediate and demanding: beat Hedman, then move one step closer to a third Blackpool final in four years. With prize money increased and two major qualification places attached, the stakes around this year’s tournament are higher than usual.
