Peter Wright Trophy Sale Denied By Jo Wright In Fresh Statement

Jo Wright has said Peter Wright’s PDC World Championship and World Matchplay trophies were not approved for sale after footage appeared to show the prizes being offered in a giveaway.

The clarification came on Tuesday, June 23, after a video circulating on X showed items linked to the two-time world champion, including the 2020 World Championship trophy and his 2021 World Matchplay silverware.

Wright, one of the PDC’s most recognisable figures, has endured a difficult spell on the oche and will miss the World Matchplay for the first time since 2012. That context made the sight of major trophies apparently leaving his possession a sharp talking point among darts fans.

Jo Wright Issues Clear Denial

Jo Wright, Peter’s wife and manager, responded directly to the video and said the trophies were not meant to be sold, adding that they belonged to the couple’s children. DartsNews reported Jo Wright’s response as the clip spread on social media.

The statement matters because Wright’s major titles are central to his PDC legacy. His 2020 Ally Pally win and 2021 Blackpool triumph remain the headline achievements of a career that also includes World Cup success with Scotland.

For now, the sporting question is whether Wright can arrest his slide and force his way back into the major-event picture. The immediate issue, though, is simpler: his camp has made clear that those trophies were not knowingly placed up for sale.
