Michael van Gerwen is missing from the 2026 US Darts Masters field as the World Series of Darts heads back to New York this week.
The Madison Square Garden event takes place on June 25 and 26, with a 16-player field split between eight PDC representatives and eight North American representatives. Luke Humphries and Luke Littler are among the headline names, but Van Gerwen is not part of the confirmed line-up.
The absence is notable because the Dutchman remains one of the most recognisable figures in the sport and had won the Nordic Darts Masters earlier in the World Series calendar. The field details were set out in the PDC’s confirmed US Darts Masters and North American Championship announcement.
New York Field Moves On Without Van Gerwen
The tournament still carries major pull for darts fans, with Humphries defending the title he won last year and Littler continuing another high-profile World Series campaign.
For Van Gerwen, the absence removes one of the biggest names from the New York stage and leaves extra spotlight on the remaining PDC representatives. It also gives the North American qualifiers a clearer marquee opportunity, with the event doubling as one of the sport’s most visible showcases outside Europe.
The immediate focus now turns to the draw and whether Humphries, Littler or another World Series contender can take control of a field missing one of darts’ modern greats.
