Luke Humphries claimed his ninth European Tour crown with a battling 8-6 victory over Jonny Clayton in the Belgian Darts Open.
Winning his second title of 2026, Humphries put together a string of impressive displays to set up a showdown with Clayton, beating Dirk van Duijvenbode, Jermaine Wattimena, Chris Dobey and Michael van Gerwen on his way to the final.
Cool Hand surged into a 6-1 lead in the final before facing a spirited comeback from the Ferret, who fought back to make it 7-6. But just as he did in the Premier League on Thursday, Humphries regained composure to deny him a last-leg decider and land a cool £35,000 in prize money.
Following his latest triumph in the PDC, the 31-year-old praised the fans on social media and also made a joking reference in his post.
Luke Humphries sends message after Belgian Darts Open win
During the second European Tour in Germany, Stephen Bunting and some other players complained about whistling from the crowd.
But the supporters who attended the tournament in Wieze contributed to a brilliant atmosphere, and Humphries quickly pointed that out.
🏆Really pleased to be taking home the trophy!🇧🇪

Belgium, you were amazing, and the fans were brilliant all weekend.
It's been a bit of a rollercoaster of a weekend for one reason or another, but I got the job done, and it's a real boost for my season (and aura😉😂).

“Really pleased to be taking home the trophy!” the world No. 2 exclaimed on X. “Belgium, you were amazing, and the fans were brilliant all weekend.”
Humphries also had some pointed words for darts influencer Charlie Murphy, who claimed the reigning Premier League champion was lacking in confidence and ‘aura’.
“He’s never been full of aura, but he doesn’t seem to have the stage aura or confidence that he used to have when he was winning,” Murphy said before the tournament.
However, Humphries made sure to remind him of his recent comments in a humorous way. He wrote: “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of a weekend for one reason or another, but I got the job done, and it’s a real boost for my season (and aura),” accompanied by a winky and laughing face.
Humphries scoring is the best it’s ever been
A strong surge to the Belgian Darts Open saw the Englishman showcase his incredible scoring once more.
In his semi-final against Michael van Gerwen, Humphries averaged 105.96 and was even 50% on the doubles (7/14). He also posted a ton-plus average in a 6-1 demolition of Wattimena and a 6-4 victory over van Duijvenbode.

"I clicked on the post and it made me feel even worse. All this stuff about not having aura and stuff I don't really care about having aura.… pic.twitter.com/7MtzNeU30Q
Relentless treble hitting has been constant throughout 2026 so far, with only Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price racking up more 180s than Humphries (ironically, 180).
The main issue for him this year has been killing off legs and squandering chances on doubles. However, he showed signs of being ruthless in Belgium and finding consistency with his finishing will be the key to adding more trophies to his cabinet.
