Luke Littler has put his remaining 2026 ProTour schedule in doubt, saying his Players Championship plans are effectively tied to winning the World Matchplay in Blackpool.
The world number one made the remark after his US Darts Masters final defeat to Luke Humphries at Madison Square Garden, where Humphries won 8-7 in a last-leg decider. The line matters because Littler has skipped the Players Championship circuit for much of the year, leaving his route to the Players Championship Finals at Minehead unusually fragile for a player dominating the sport’s biggest stages.
In the PDC’s official post-match clip, Littler indicated that another ProTour push would only stay on the table if Blackpool goes his way. That makes the Betfred World Matchplay, already one of the sport’s most prestigious titles, a direct pressure point in his calendar.
Blackpool Now Carries Extra Weight
Littler’s major haul has changed the terms of almost every event he enters, but the ProTour remains a different calculation. Players Championship Finals qualification is built on Players Championship prize money, not reputation, and a light schedule can leave even elite names exposed.
The next stage is clear: Blackpool from July 18-26. If Littler wins there, the ProTour door appears open again. If he does not, Minehead could become the rare major weekend shaped as much by his absence as by the field itself.
