Ross Smith Leicester Deadline Locks In Final Players Championship Sprint

Ross Smith and the rest of the PDC Tour Card field have until 2pm GMT on Monday to enter Players Championships 23-24, with Leicester hosting the last ProTour double-header before the World Matchplay field is settled.

The timing gives the next two floor events added weight. The PDPA calendar lists Players Championship 23 for Monday, July 6 and Players Championship 24 for Tuesday, July 7, both in Leicester, with the entry deadline set for Monday, June 29 at 2pm GMT on the PDPA Players Championship calendar.

Smith has already made the Leicester cut-off a live storyline because his ProTour position gives him a meaningful route to sharpen his Blackpool case before the World Matchplay places are finalised.

Leicester Now Carries Blackpool Weight

The consequence is simple: the July 6-7 double-header is no routine floor stop. It is the last block of Players Championship money before the sport turns towards Blackpool, so withdrawals, late entries and ranking movement all matter more than usual.

For Smith, the immediate task is to turn opportunity into security. For the chasing pack, Leicester is one of the few remaining chances to force movement in the qualification picture rather than wait for rivals to stumble.

The draw and confirmed entry list should define which names get the clearest route once the deadline has passed.
