Luke Humphries Joins Michael Van Gerwen In US Darts Masters Two-Time Club

Luke Humphries joined Michael van Gerwen as the only two-time US Darts Masters champion after edging Luke Littler 8-7 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

The world number two retained the bet365 title in New York with a deciding-leg win over his England World Cup partner, adding another major World Series marker to a rivalry that has already become the PDC’s cleanest box-office pairing.

Humphries adds rare New York marker

The PDC confirmed Humphries’ back-to-back US Darts Masters success after a final that went the distance, with Littler again forcing the standard but missing out on a first New York title.

That detail matters because Van Gerwen had previously stood alone as the tournament’s repeat benchmark, winning the event in 2017 and 2023. Humphries has now matched the Dutchman on the American stage, and he has done it by beating the sport’s current world champion in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd.

For Littler, the defeat still leaves another deep World Series run in the bank. For Humphries, it is stronger currency: a defence of silverware, a final-leg win over his closest rival, and a reminder that the road to the big summer titles still runs through his scoring power under pressure. It also gives him another clean answer to the idea that Littler has already moved clear of the field.
