James Wade reacts instantly on social media after creating PDC history

James Wade’s success and longevity in the PDC make him one of the greatest darts players to ever live.

In a career spanning almost three decades, The Machine has showcased relentless consistency to remain one of the sport’s most prominent figures.

A winner of 11 PDC major titles, the world No. 6 has become recognised for his ruthless finishing and ability to grind out games, something he’s done on countless occasions.

The 42-year-old is also known for creating history, most recently celebrating a career milestone at the Players Championship 7 event.

James Wade reaches 1,000 wins on the ProTour circuit

Wade wrote his name into the record books after beating world No. 62 Lukas Wenig 6-1 in the first round of the Players Championship in Leicester.

He became the first men’s player to win 1,000 matches on the PDC Pro Darts Circuit, an outstanding achievement that outlines his longevity in the sport.

However, after making history against Wenig, Wade was brought back down to earth with a surprise 6-2 defeat to Cristo Reyes in the following match.

Reacting to this milestone on social media, Wade wrote: “Afternoon folks. Well that wasn’t the ending I wanted today but on a more positive note this did happen.

“After winning my 1st game today I became the 1st and only player to win 1000 matches in the Players Championships Events.

“What an achievement and I feel really proud of that!! Thank you to all of you who support and follow me.

“Thank you to Sammi and the boys for always being there and thanks always to my management and sponsors!! Have a great Monday and I’ll be back on the oche tomorrow.”

Wade could replace Josh Rock in Premier League

A winner of over 20 Players Championship titles, Wade has showcased excellence in this tournament previously and reaching 1,000 wins only highlights his ability to stay at the top.

Wade’s talents have never been in doubt, but despite being one of the strongest competitors on tour, he was snubbed for this year’s Premier League.

The decision to pass up on Wade, who won the three-month-long tournament in 2009, means the experienced darts star hasn’t featured in the competition since 2022.

However, if he has a strong 2026, then he should arguably replace Josh Rock in the tournament.

Rock has struggled on his Premier League debut, collecting his first win of the competition on night eight last week.

So, there is a chance he will drop out once a decision is made in January 2027, and Wade is a leading candidate to return.
