James Wade did not leave Madison Square Garden with the headline, but his New York work still changed the temperature around Blackpool.
The 41-year-old beat Adam Sevada 6-3 in round one and then repeated that scoreline against Gerwyn Price in the US Darts Masters quarter-finals, according to Sky Sports’ results sheet, before Luke Littler stopped him 7-4 in the semi-finals.

Wade’s Blackpool Case Looks Stronger
That matters because Wade’s game has always travelled best when the format rewards hold pressure, doubling rhythm and low-error legs. New York was another reminder that he can still turn elite matches into uncomfortable, tactical exchanges.
The wider US Darts Masters story belonged to Luke Humphries, who beat Littler 8-7 in the final after seeing off Stephen Bunting and Gian van Veen. But Wade’s clean route past Price, in particular, should not be filed as background noise.
Blackpool now carries a clearer warning. If Wade lands in the wrong quarter of the World Matchplay draw, he remains one of the most awkward players in the field: not explosive every visit, but clinical enough to drag a favourite into the kind of contest they would rather avoid.
