Cameron Menzies Offered Plumbing Job After World Championship Struggles

Cameron Menzies has revealed he was offered his old plumbing job after a miserable start to 2026 left him questioning his full-time darts career.

The Scottish thrower endured a damaging spell after the World Darts Championship, where his campaign ended early and his frustration later contributed to a hand injury after he punched a table.

Menzies had stepped away from plumbing to focus fully on the PDC circuit, but the slump was serious enough for him to update his CV and consider whether he needed the safety net of his former trade.

Menzies reset now points toward World Matchplay push

The 36-year-old has since credited hypnotherapy with helping him regain control, reduce anxiety and enjoy competing again, according to talkSPORT’s update on Cameron Menzies’ darts turnaround.

That change matters because Menzies is no longer just trying to stabilise his season. He is now looking toward a possible World Matchplay place, with Blackpool beginning on July 18.

For darts fans, the story is a reminder of how quickly a player’s confidence can move in either direction on the professional circuit. Menzies’ year looked in danger of becoming a retreat from the tour. Instead, his recovery has turned into one of the more human subplots around the next major qualification race.
