Gian van Veen is doing everything in his power to recover ahead of night eight of the Premier League in Berlin.
Van Veen was forced to pull out of the action in Dublin last Thursday after undergoing an operation to remove his kidney stones.
The 23-year-old has since been recovering from that operation and will be desperate to continue his solid debut in the competition.
As it stands, the talented Dutchman has six wins under his belt and is only two points shy of a top-four place despite missing last week.
Gian van Veen sends message ahead of Premier League night
Speaking on social media, Van Veen explained that his energy levels remain low post-surgery, but he is hopeful of being fit to feature in Berlin.

“Following the surgery to remove my kidney stones, recovery has been a process that requires patience,” he wrote on X.
“Unfortunately, that is something that does not come easy when all you want to do is compete in this packed schedule.
“However, the fatigue is real. My energy levels are still lower than I hoped and every day I have to be smart about how I use it. But where my body allows it, I am on the board. Practising, working and rebuilding on getting back to where I want to be.”
Van Veen’s statement was accompanied by him practising his throw, admitting he isn’t where he wants to be yet, as he continues his recovery.
“Berlin is the goal,” he continued. “Walking out onto that Premier League stage and making my comeback at the oche is what is driving me through every session, every day.
“I am doing everything to be there this Thursday. However, I need to listen to my body and not rush into any decisions. As important as the Premier League is, my health is more important.
“The will is there. The motivation has definitely never left. Now it is about making sure everything aligns in time. Berlin, I hope to see you on Thursday.”
Van Veen can still finish in the play-offs
The battle for the play-offs is an intriguing spectacle. Jonny Clayton and Luke Littler have arguably guaranteed their place at the 02 Arena for Finals Night in London.
| Pos | Player | Pts | Matches Won |
| 1 | Jonny Clayton | 19 | 11 |
| 2 | Luke Littler | 16 | 8 |
| 3 | Gerwyn Price | 12 | 7 |
| 4 | Luke Humphries | 11 | 6 |
| 5 | Michael van Gerwen | 10 | 5 |
| 6 | Gian van Veen | 9 | 6 |
| 7 | Stephen Bunting | 7 | 4 |
| 8 | Josh Rock | 0 | 0 |
Clayton is top of the table on 19 points, while Littler is on 16 after his remarkable victory over Price in last week’s final. In a tightly congested table, only three points separate Price in third from Van Veen in sixth.
And if he’s fit enough to play on Thursday night, he can close the deficit between him and the Iceman by winning their quarter-final clash.
Van Veen has made the final three times in this year’s Premier League, but failed to win any of them. Making a fourth will be a huge ask post-surgery, and even just beating Price would be impressive.
