Wessel Nijman’s ProTour year has moved from hot streak to structural problem for the rest of the PDC field.
Fresh PDC Europe data published on Monday shows the Dutchman has now won eight titles from the opening 30 ProTour events of 2026, a run that has taken him to the top of the ProTour Order of Merit on £314,500.
The spread matters. Nijman’s haul is not built on one surface. It includes floor wins and European Tour titles, with the latest coming at the Slovak Darts Open, where he beat Rob Cross 8-3 in Bratislava.
Why July now carries extra weight
PDC Europe’s latest ProTour roll call underlines the scale of Nijman’s separation. He has won Players Championship 2, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 21, while also taking the European Darts Trophy and Slovak Darts Open.
That dominance changes the context around July. There are five ProTour events scheduled next month, including four Players Championship tournaments and the European Darts Open in Leverkusen.
For the chasers, that block is no longer just about banking prize money before the summer majors. It is a chance to stop Nijman turning a rankings lead into a season-defining gap.
Beau Greaves, Kevin Doets, Andrew Gilding and Luke Woodhouse have all claimed maiden ProTour titles this year, proof that the field is still volatile. Yet Nijman is the constant. Unless July produces a correction, the ProTour race may already be bending around him.
