Michael Smith has dropped out of the PDC top 32 after the latest live Order of Merit update, with the former world champion now listed 33rd following the Slovak Darts Open.
The live ranking table, updated after ET9 on 21 June, places Smith on £304,500 in ranking money, just behind Ritchie Edhouse in 32nd on £309,750, according to the latest PDC Order of Merit data.
It is a sharp marker in Smith’s slide from the very top of the sport. The St Helens thrower was world champion and world No.1 in 2023, but his current position leaves him outside the seeded bracket that so often shapes draws and major-event routes.
Smith faces a ranking fight before the next major push
The breakdown behind the ranking shows Smith has £53,000 counting from 2026 events, with his overall total still leaning heavily on money banked in the previous two seasons.
That matters because the Order of Merit is a rolling pressure test. As older prize money drops away, Smith needs fresh runs to stop the fall becoming more damaging.
His injury problems have added to the concern. Smith has previously spoken about ankle and wrist issues, and any reduced practice rhythm is costly in a field where Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen are setting the pace at the top.
For Smith, the immediate task is simple but unforgiving: win matches quickly, rebuild ranking money, and force his way back into the top 32 before the next major cut-offs bite.
